Good news is around the corner! Mr. Burzin Daver, CEO of Livewel Group, Mumbai, has announced that the company is all set to sanitize aircraft of all major domestic airliners using innovative UVC technology. The step becomes more important when the entire world is struggling to deal with the impact of Coronavirus. The contagious disease is known to spread very fast through human-to-human contact and also human-to-surface contact. To address the latter, Livewel Aviation, contractually associated with all major airlines in India to provide aircraft cleaning services, is importing the latest equipment.

What is UVC Technology? Mr. Daver briefed the press about the technology’s proven track record and results. He mentioned that “ the ultraviolet C radiations effectively hamper the growth of microbes like bacteria, fungus, and virus. Scientists from across the world have undertaken much research, and the results have been very encouraging in this regard. The technology is being used for sanitization and other related purposes in many countries, especially after the pandemic outbreak”. Some of the most infectious diseases like Influenza, Ebola, and Coronavirus can be prevented from spreading if open surfaces are treated with UVC radiations.

Further, Mr. Burzin Daver added that” we plan to install three machines per major airport in the initial phase. We have already started with the necessary processes to import the machines, and training for the team members is in full swing so that we are ready to start as soon as we receive the equipment. Currently, we plan to sanitize the planes at night when they halt at major airports, and the initial target is to sanitize at least a hundred planes in a day. We will scale up as and when the requirement is felt. Each sanitized plane will be pasted with a certificate of sanitization from Livewel so that passengers and crew members can travel without any stress”.  He also mentioned that most of the airliners in the country that Livewel is associate with had given the green signal to use world-class technology for deep cleaning aircraft.

The UVC Technology uses a specialized machine that looks like a catering trolley. The machine has wings on either side that reach out to the most difficult areas in the cabin, for example, seat edges, overhead bins, and the underside, windows, seats, backside of seats, armrests, ac vents, cockpits, lavatories, aisles, galleries, overhead baggage compartments, etc. to disinfect the open areas. The rays are generated from UVC Lamps in the required dose to wipe off harmful microbes and contaminants in the cabin. The exercise can be completed in about five minutes, considering that the latest technology powers the machines.

The step will make a big difference to air passengers as living with Covid-19 becomes the new normal.
