A Short Guide to IP Address

IP Address

Every user who is connected to the Internet has an IP address; a unique number assigned to a specific computer with which it identifies itself on the network. All IP addresses, both IPv4 and IPV6, are made up of four sets of numbers, which are separated by periods, and have a length of one to three digits ranging from the number 1 to 255.

Each IP address is 32 bits long and is made up of two types of information. A first group of numbers that refers to the identifier of the network (from the country, to the type of network used) and the rest of numerical groups that refer to the host. This information provides us with specific information such as the date and time; but they also serve to know when an internet connection has occurred accurately in the resolution of any type of conflict over the internet. In addition, it is very useful for some protocols such as the RIP protocol.

Static or shared IP?

There are two types of IP addresses: static and shared. The first, static IP addresses, are numbers assigned exclusively to a website from which you can have control and improve the reputation of a web page. In the case of shared IP addresses, they change every time an internet connection is established and are shared by several websites at the same time, which means that all web pages that share the same IP, in a certain way, send their files from the same place. Have any of your websites had a problem? If so, it is very likely that this will end up affecting the rest of the websites with which it shares an IP address.

The IP address is reflected in each of the logs (records) of the servers that are accessed. On many occasions they are of great help, among other things, when it comes to locating problems. For example, when we contact the technical support team of our hosting provider. Among other things, an IP address allows you to know from which country you are accessing a web page; thus, allowing you to solve the problem in the simplest way.
