Great news for the proud owners of Galaxy Note 2 N7100! According to IBTimes, as Samsung has dropped software support for this device long back, CyanogenMod team has rolled out the latest Android 7.1.1 based CyanogenMod 14.1 ROM to take the device forward.

Since this is an unofficial customs release, users will require some custom recovery software to run the device. Some of the fully functional features as of now are:

• Bluetooth
• Volume keys
• WiFi
• External SD Card
• Video recording
• Video playback
• Youtube App

Follow the steps mentioned below install Android 7.1.1 Nougat based CM14.1 ROM on Galaxy Note 2 N7100:

• Connect and mount the phone's USB mass storage on computer with USB cable
• Power off the phone and disconnect USB cord from the computer
• Boot the device into recovery mode
• Once the phone enters CWM Recovery, perform a full data wipe task by clicking Wipe Data/Factory Reset. Volume keys need to be used to navigate between options and the Power button

• After clicking Choose Zip fromSD card, navigate to the CyanogenMod ROM zip file by volume keys that you copied earlier to your phone's SD card and choose it by tapping the Power button.

The phone will take around 5 minutes to reboot then. Then the old galaxy Note 2 will run on the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat update via CM14.1 custom ROM.
