A study conducted by an Indian origin researcher revealed that a comprehensive low fat diet helps lower migraine pain and bring relief to a great extent. Another good news is that these diets not only reduce headaches, but also help in weight loss and prevent heart diseases.
Along with low fat and low carbohydrate diets, migraine patients should also focus on food that increase the amount of Omega-3 fatty acids and decrease Omega-6 fatty acids. This is because low carbohydrate diets such as ketogenic diets are said to reduce headache frequency. However, such diets should be taken after consultation from physicians.
It is also found that withdrawal of caffeine by regular drinkers may trigger headache caused by migraine. Alcohol like vodka and red wine are also responsible for triggering the pain. On the contrary, healthy low fat food items like soup and fresh salads without added preservatives alleviate migraine pain.
