Jaguar was always known for its sporty sedans as it didn't offer any SUV at all. However, this changed last year with the introduction of Jaguar's first SUV, the F-Pace. Not only was the F-Pace praised for its SUV capabilities and sedan-like driving dynamics all over the world, but it was also able to churn some good sales number.
After the success of the F-Pace, the British automaker didn't stop there. In November 2016, it introduced the I-Pace concept - all-electric SUV concept - slated to go on sale in 2018. And now, the automaker is planning to introduce a new compact SUV, the E-Pace. The E-Pace had already been spotted testing earlier this year. However, Jaguar will officially unveil its new SUV on July 13, 2017.
The E-Pace will have similar styling as its elder sibling, the F-Pace but smaller proportions. It is likely to be powered by 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines that are under the hood of other Jaguar cars. The engines are expected to be coupled to an 8-speed auto box that will transmit the power to all-four or two wheels, depending upon the variants. Moreover, Jaguar is also likely to introduce a performance-focused variant which might have 3.0-litre supercharged V6 engine under its hood.
The E-Pace will go on sale in the US from early 2018 and will have a starting price of $38,600 (Rs 24.9 lakh). It is likely to be launched in the Indian market by the end of 2018 and will be priced around Rs 50 lakh. It will compete with the SUVs like the Audi Q5, Mercedes-Benz GLC, BMW X3 and the upcoming Volvo XC60.
