Mercedes-Benz will launch the mid-cycle update/facelift of the GLA in the country on July 5. The updated GLA made its world debut at the 2017 Detroit Motor Show in January this year and went on sale globally in the subsequent months. The GLA is locally assembled at Mercedes-Benz’s Chakan facility near Pune and the updated model is expected to be priced in the same range as the outgoing model.
Like the updated CLA and the A-Class, the GLA features subtle aesthetic changes along with additional features both inside and out. The updated model gets all-LED headlamps, a tweaked grille and redesigned bumpers with fog lamps (not offered with the pre-facelift model). While it rides on a new set of alloy wheels, the side profile remains unchanged.
At the rear, it gets new graphics for the LED tail lamps and a redesigned bumper. The highlight on the inside is the new 8-inch infotainment system that supports navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a new instrument cluster.
Mechanically, the GLA facelift is likely to remain unaltered and will carry forward the same set of engines. The GLA 200 petrol version is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine which produces 183PS and 300Nm of peak torque. The GLA 200D powered by the 2.1-litre diesel engine, on the other hand, makes 136PS or power and 300Nm of torque. Both the engines will be mated to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission.
