It will be the first Volvo with Polestar Trickery ever to be sold in India

Swedish carmaker Volvo will launch the S60 Polestar in India tomorrow. It is slated to become the first ever Volvo with development from Polestar that will be sold in the country. For the uninitiated, Polestar is Volvo’s own in-house tuning division that has championed in injecting a whole lot of excitement in the sensible Swedish wagons. In other words, Volvo’s Polestar is what the AMG and M-division are for Mercedes-Benz and BMW respectively. But can the S60 Polestar face the competition from the German-dominated world of power-crazed executive saloons? Let’s see what it is made of.
The S60 Polestar borrows almost all the underpinnings from the T6 variant of the standard S60 sedan. However, most of those fixtures and fittings are tinkered with to take the Polestar edition into a different league. Once tuned with Polestar trickery, the 2.0-litre petrol engine belts out 367PS of power and 467Nm of torque. That’s 61PS/67Nm more than the standard car. To ensure most of the available grunt is utilised for proper propulsion, Volvo’s all-wheel-drive tech takes care of the power-to-tarmac equation. The result? The S60 Polestar completes the naught to 100kmph sprint in 4.7 seconds and can reach an electronically-limited top speed of 250kmph.
Don’t, even for one moment, think that the Polestar optimisation has taken away the safety aspect of Volvo cars. Passenger safety has been at the core of every Volvo and the S60 Polestar isn’t an exception. Apart from the usual list of safety features like airbags and ABS, the S60 Polestar still comes with sensors all around its exterior which read the surroundings and apply brakes automatically if it detects any obstruction. This feature works at speeds of up to 50kmph.

Once launched, it will poke its case against the likes of the Mercedes-AMG C 43 and the Audi S5. Volvo, like it has done with most of its cars on sale in India, is expected to price the S60 Polestar extremely competitive. We believe it will carry a price tag in bracket of Rs 60-65 lakh. Intrigued? We sure are!
