Xiaomi adds a full-metal body to its latest offering, Redmi 3S and 3S Prime, starting at Rs 7K

Yesterday Chinese smartphone maker, Xiaomi, added two new models to popular Redmi series, the Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime, for Rs 6,999 and Rs 8,999, respectively.

Both devices feature 4,100mAh battery and are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset, but vary in terms of memory offerings. While the Redmi 3S gets 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage, the Prime comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. The Redmi series has been a popular choice for budget buyers ever since its launch in 2013, and also includes the Redmi Note 3, which was launched earlier this year. The Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime are at the bottom.
Several changes can be seen in both devices as compared to its predecessors including a full metal body on both, and a fingerprint sensor on the Redmi 3S Prime. The rest of the hardware is similar, with both models, featuring a 5-inch HD display, and running on 1.4GHz octa-core processor with Adreno 505 GPU.
They support 4G LTE with VoLTE, Wi-Fi, and pack 13MP rear and 5MP front shooters with PDAF (phase detection autofocus) for faster focusing, and can record 1080P video.
Available in dark grey, silver, and gold colours, both are dual-sim smartphones and feature IR Blaster to allow you to control remote-controlled home appliances from your smartphone. The Redmi 3S Prime goes on sale on August 9 (12 noon onwards), while the Redmi 3S will be available from August 16.
