“Sports fans are always looking for avenues to showcase their passion for a particular team or player — be it through status updates, tweets, BBM broadcasts or fan groups.

Our T-shirt brand helps these supporters shout out louder,” says Saurabh Nishar, who along with Ankit Parekh, Priyank Dedhia, Farzan Damania and Zaheer Ghani launched Funatic Tees under their umbrella brand, Funatic Sports.

The T-shirt brand creates unique and witty designs especially for fans, using details like nicknames, history and statistics — details that only true fans would understand and appreciate. “We believe that one does not need to own over-priced official team or player merchandise to prove his worth as a true fan,” expresses Nishar.

All the designs, from conceptualisation to the final draft, are created in-house by a team of designers, who have studied at design colleges including National Institute of Design, National Institute of Fashion Technology and JJ School of Arts.

“Funatic is unique because it focuses on sports fans, and not the players. While most big brands create products for players that are mostly performance-related, we focus on fans that follow theseu00a0players and teams and are aware of their details.

We don’t use names and logos because they are boring; besides, true fans know a lot more about their teams and players than just names,” informs Dedia.

Currently, the T-shirt brand that offers cash-on-delivery service, has designs in seven categories: Cricket, Football, Basketball, Tennis, Cycling, Gaming and Gyming.

They plan to introduce new categories every month along with relevant new designs for existing categories. “By June-July, we hope to enter the retail segment and open our own Funatic retail store by the end of this year,” reveals Ghani.
