Shine like a star

For all those who think glitter is tacky and make-up, difficult, Fat Mu's Tinsel Town make-up workshop will change your mindset and get you ready for the party season

Glitter has been an unlikely product in the vanity cases of top make-up artistes this year for international fashion weeks.

The workshop started with a demonstration by senior make-up artist (right, standing) Rukhshaad Nariman, and co-owner Virginia Holmes (centre, standing) who gave us tips on correct brands to buy for different price ranges as well as a step-by-step guide to apply glitter on our eyes

But when it comes to replicating this shiny trend, there is a thin line between looking like a hottie or a disco ball at a party.

Once the demonstration was done, came the difficult part -- replicating the look on our faces. Although, make-up stations lined with bulb-lit mirrors and loads of make-up pots to experiment with, set us inu00a0the mood.

To help us look at our shiny best, we signed up for the Tinsel Town make-up workshop at Fat Mu Make-Up Company.

The key to applying glitter in Holmes’ words is, “Butterfly kisses”. One has to be light handed while using glitter and also go easy on kohl and liner.

Glitter is a great option for doing up your eyes if you are tired of the smoky-eyed look or if you wish to add a twist to it.

Holmes shared tips on how to use shimmer in other areas like nails and shoulders. The personalised touch and encouragement overall, as well as cautionary suggestions added up to a feel-good first attempt.

So, with several big-fat Indian weddings and glitzy parties to attend next month, this might not be such a bad idea, after all.
