It may not have chocolate waterfalls, candy trees or even Oompaloompas, but that doesn't make Bandra's newest sweet-spot any less inviting than Willy Wonka's chocolate factory (oru00a0 at least, the one we imagined). With a bright pink exterior that we were able to spot from a mile away thanks to the uninspiring grey and black surroundings it's ensconced in, Candylicious is well worth the ride to Perry Cross Road.
Baby shower pram (Rs 1,150)
When we walked in on a Monday evening, the tiny store was empty save for the owner and her assistant, both friendly. A veritable sea of colourful bouquets of every shape, size and colour, the interiors are striking enough to blind you for a second or two. On closer look, the bouquets are concoctions of chocolate, colourful paper, streamers, and decorations jazzy enough to shame the most dedicatedu00a0 craft-class topper.
We spied a pretty polka dotted ceramic swan with chocolates wrapped in silver foil (Rs 1,550) placed atop a fancy looking embroidered shoe (Rs 1,450) that'll walk you to chocolate heaven with its offerings of Lindor flowers. The cute little house, surrounded by farm animals and crocodiles that have bellies full of chocolate, would makes for a great birthday centerpiece (Rs 3,000). Bouquets can be customised to fit any requirement you may have ufffd from a hospital visit to a baby shower.u00a0
The store gets extra brownie points for the cheerful duo, who patiently answered all our questions. They even put together an assortment of chocolates into a box covered with pink hearts and love messages (Rs 385 for the box plus the chocolates). The attentive Saba Patel, who runs the store, fished out a sheet of paper covered in scribbles to meticulously read out to us the name and type of each chocolate piece we picked, just because we asked. Score.
We absolutely loved the Belgian Chocolate Lollipops, available both in plain and with rice crispies (Rs 100), and with cute little drawings on them ufffd ours had a duck that looked suspiciously like Uncle Scrooge and heart-shaped balloons (big surprise, Candylicious is really big on hearts and pink). Soft, smooth and silky enough to slide down your throat, they're also surprisingly filling compared to your average chocolate.

Among the assortment of eight chocolates (Rs 2,800, per kg for each type) that populated our gift box, the heart-shaped crushed almond chocolate was particularly noteworthy, tastingu00a0 of yummy almond mixed in a delicious Belgian chocolate base. The gold bar, a super soft, rectangular bite of paradise with tiny slices of crushed almond for effect also got our nod. Weu00a0 fell for the confetti almond, that had broken nuts in the centre, and the almond wafer, which had a big almond on top, beneath which sat a big mattress of chocolate, followed by a wafer bottom. Mmm.
