Imagine walking into a store and buying the products you like at the price you wish. A store in Pune allows its customers to do just that.

Wisdom Craft, a store that sells hand-crafted products, is introducing a new concept of pay-what-you-like for its customers. Located at an inconspicuous area of Swargate near Sujoy Gardens, the store is slowly gaining popularity in the city because of its product line, which is both unique and innovative.

The store was first launched in Ahemdabad at the Gandhi Ashram and it was a roaring success with the locals. The owners soon decided to open a store in Pune as well. Khushmita, the co-owner of Wisdom Craft, Pune, says that the idea for such a store came from Nipun Mehta of Charity Focus. "Based on the idea, Meghna and Madhu Agarwal started the first two stores in Ahmedabad," she says.

As soon as you enter the store, you realise that the store is calm and peaceful. It is also environment-friendly as the products are all handmade. Every product has a message or a story attached to it, be it the Khadi T-Shirts, which symbolise the use of Swadesi products or neck chains with 'peace' inscribed on them.
It's pleasing to see that these products are not commercialised and there is no price tag on them. "When customers buy a product, they get a blank envelope and it's entirely up to them to decide how much they wish to pay," Khushmita informs.

Wisdom Craft's products are already a hit with college students and foreigners. But, where does the money to run the store come from? "We receive these products from all over the world and they send it to us at a cost price. Basically, it's a model based on trust and not a profit-making business," Khushmita answers.
