The newest Apple smartphones are on sale in the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and Britain and the company says these will be available in 115 countries by the end of the year.
The sales figures do not include China, potentially one of the largest markets, because the iPhone 6 has not been approved yet by the Chinese authorities.
The iPhone 6 series phones are Apple's largest so far and prices range from $199 to $499.
