To be manufactured in single and crew-cab trims

Mahindra seems to be working on an all-new Scorpio Getaway, both for the Indian and overseas markets, as two different test vehicles were recently spotted on Indian roads. With Tata Motors gearing up to launch the Xenon Yodha on January 3, 2017, we wouldn’t be surprised if Mahindra quickens up the testing process and launches the new Scorpio Getaway soon after.
As specified earlier, two different test vehicles were spotted testing - one with a single-cab configuration and the other with a crew-cab set up. The single-cab Getaway is sold primarily in markets outside of India, while the crew-cab has been with us since 2007. Both test mules are believed to be the versions for international markets like South Africa and Australia. But we expect Mahindra to launch a similarly-specced model in India by mid-2017. The Scorpio Getaway is also being tested for left-hand drive markets as Mahindra wants to expand its reach to more countries around the world.
The new model, with cabin-crew configuration, for India will boast the same 2.2-litre mHAWK engine which pumps out 122PS of power and 280Nm of torque. A 4x4 system is also expected to be offered to match its competition. On the outside, it is likely to carry the same front look as the current-gen Scorpio SUV. Even inside the cabin, the crew-cab Scorpio Getaway is expected to feature the same dashboard design as its SUV sibling.
The BS-IV variants of the Scorpio Getaway currently on sale have two price-tags - Rs 9.15 lakh for the 2WD version and Rs 10.14 lakh for the 4WD one. The new model is expected to receive a slightly higher price-tag, primarily because Mahindra will increase the price of all of its offerings in India from January 2017. Once launched, it will face the heat from Tata Xenon Yodha and Isuzu D-Max V-Cross.
