Assassin's Creed Identity doesn’t bring anything new to the game, aside from a new playing platform

Game Review: Assassin's Creed Identity

Assassin’s Creed Identity looks pretty good for a game that’s running off your tablet. Though the game looks complex the gameplay is smooth even on a relatively ancient iPad 3.

The developers have done a good job of adapting the open world feel of Assassin’s. Despite the sandbox being small, it doesn’t feel like it is boxing you in too often. The game is essentially a RPG, where you complete missions, to upgrade weapons and skills. There are four types of warriors, each with their unique set of skills. You can choose a type that fits your style.

Assassin’s Identity is split up into bite size levels that has you completing a set of tasks, for example take out mercenaries. While the controls for moving around are fine, using the standard left side for movement and right to see where you are going. Unfortunately, that’s where the good ends, the action controls are clunky and at times confusing, especially useless during the heat of the moment.

Assassin’s Creed Identity doesn’t really bring anything new to the table. Instead, it tries to rehash its old formula back again, which is a little disappointing. Changing the device from a PC / Console to a tablet doesn’t make it new.

The game costs Rs 300, but contains a fair amount of micro transactions. You can ignore them mostly and actually finish the game without needing to buy anything extra, which is good.
