If you are a collector of ancient maps of India dating back to the 19th century, then Fusionaccess, the month-old furniture store at Koregaon Park is the place to be. The store showcases living room, dining room and bedroom furniture as well as garden sets and decorative items. Though the prices are on the higher side, if you have the moolah they have the creative items to flaunt.

While the brand is owned by furniture designer Shilpa Kalanjee, the store owner is Brigadier Baron Ray who has meticulously researched the tastes of the locales before opening the store. The store stocks mirrors, sofa sets, center and coffee tables, dining tables, beds, lamps, candle stands and holders as well as metallic artifacts and items made from recycled Burma teak wood. The designs are a mix of contemporary and classic themes, including both trendy sofa sets as well as cushion covers from Indian states.

We liked the cushion covers, which had funky images from the Kama Sutra. The metal candle stands and holders made out of metal and glass also caught our fancy. Now that load shedding has become a regular feature in the city, this could be an intelligent buy. They also have posters of maps that depict routes in North and South India, including sea coasts and paths dating back to the year 1800. They also have posters of advertisements of travel agencies and brands from the pre-Independence era.

The metal artefacts of animals painted in various shades looked bright. We liked the mixed media coffee tables as well as mother of pearl decorations. Watch out for the elegant vases as well as the wrought iron Moroccan lamps available in various shapes. The dining tables and sofa sets on display however failed to impress us as they offered nothing new in terms of design.
