Now, that you have had fun splashing colours and ODing on food and bhang, here's what the experts suggest for a detox

Detox tips after Holi

Holi

For skin
>> Using a cream cleanser or baby oil, gently massage off the leftover colour. Other good colour removers are vinegar, mustard oil, curd, and soapnut (reetha) extract. Follow this up with lots of moisturising.

>> For irritated skin or rashes, apply a mixture of calamine lotion with a few drops of mometasone lotion. Apply an ice pack on the irritated skin. If the condition persists, go to a dermatologist.

For diet
>> Since consumption of sweets during Holi is common, ensure you have lots of salads so that it will keep you healthy and curb your appetite.

>> Drink a minimum of eight glasses of water to keep hydrated.

>> Do not neglect your exercise routine. Keep it steady so that you can burn those extra calories.

For hair
>> Mix one tablespoon coconut oil with one teaspoon castor oil. Heat and apply on hair. Dip a towel in hot water, squeeze out the water and wrap the towel around the head like a turban. Keep it on for five minutes. Repeat the hot towel wrap 3-4 times. It helps the hair and scalp absorb the oil better. Wash your hair after an hour.

>> Conditioning with henna helps restore the shine of the hair. To henna powder, add four teaspoons of lemon juice and coffee, two eggs and curd to mix into a paste. Apply and wash your hair after an hour.

>> The day after Holi, mix two tablespoons of honey with half a cup of curd. Add a pinch of turmeric. Apply on face, neck and arms. Leave it on for 20 minutes; wash off with water to soften skin and remove tan.
