Deli habit

At ploof, you can have a nice romantic meal at the rooftop, and pick up your week's cold cuts and olives on your way out

It has been quite sometime we had been to this placeu00a0-- but the most haunting image that stayed back with us was that of a wall, decorated with badminton rackets and shuttle cocks. But this ain't a sports bar, so what are these things doing here? They are part of the d ufffdcor, we were told. Well, for one it sure didn't make sense. More so because Ploof, located in Lodhi Colony Market, is essentially a deli.

Well, a deli, or a delicatessen, is a place which sells cured meats, cheese, sausages, ham, cold cuts, salads, pickled vegetables, dips, breads and olives. Ploof indeed has a very impressive section comprising all that. However, there isn't much that you won't find at any of the south Delhi grocery stores. In addition to that, Ploof also has a section dedicated to confectionary items, which at first glance, looked tempting enough.

Of eerie feelings
When we were trying to find our way to Ploof, we weren't too happy with the dark and dim Lodhi Colony Market, where it is housed. For one, the location is grim, and gives an almost eerie feeling and a sense of doom. Once we walked inside, things were slightly more cheerful, though there were hardly any
visitors on that weekday night, counting us out. However, if you want to enjoy a nice exclusive meal, this would be the perfect place for you. Ploof also has seating arrangements on a nice and cosy rooftop, which would make for a nice romantic evening.u00a0

It's sinful
Another lasting image of this place was the dessertu00a0-- the Chocolate Trio Platter consisting of chocolate pat ufffd, rich chocolate cake and fudge brownie. Rich, sinful, delicious, just the way a dessert, any dessert, should be. Filled with dollops of guilt which we decided we could deal with later. That was the time, of course, to dig in.
Note, however, that this isn't a place for vegetarians. We found very few options for those who stay off meat and among them we ordered the bruschetta, which was nice in its usual way and Irish stew with mock meats. However, mock meats do not resemble the taste of real meat in any way.

Au00a0meaty affair
However, the non-vegetarians in the group had a filed day with some delicious Cold Cut Charcutier Platter. Equally good was the Bangkok roast duck curry that we ordered for main course and made us crave for more. It was deliciously prepared, with just the right amount of spices. The Char-grilled peppered basa, on potato mash with saut ufffded greens, also gets our vote because of the taste. All in all, we suggest that you give Ploof a try, if you can beat the doom.
