Back in September, Datsun India launched the redi-GO sport. The cosmetically-upgraded redi-GO gets a few added features and was supposed to be a limited-run model of 1,000 units. However, the initial batch was sold out within a month. To meet the variant’s added demand, 800 additional units of the redi-GO sport will now be produced.
Priced at Rs 3.49 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi, the redi-GO Sport features racing stripes, side stripes, black painted wheel caps, and a black painted front grille. The latter two get red highlights too and the car sports a rear spoiler as well. It is still available only in three colour options - Ruby, White and Grey.
On the inside, Datsun offers an all-black cabin with the black dashboard and upholstery featuring red highlights too. It also comes with a few additional features such as a Bluetooth enabled music system, remote key-less entry and rear parking sensors.
As before, the ‘Sport’ name makes the car look more performance-oriented, but there are no mechanical alterations from the standard car.
It’s powered by the same 799cc, 3-cylinder petrol engine as the Renault Kwid that develops a peak power output of 53PS and a maximum torque of 72Nm. The motor comes paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. While the Datsun GO and GO+ didn’t get off to a good start, the redi-GO has been well-received in India with sales of around 3,000 units every month.
