This time will be the seventh consecutive year of the exhibition. Bhushan Mate, one of the organisers, shares that this year the most interesting aspect of the festival will be the featuring of micro insects, a challenge for many photographers. “At least 10 photographs will be a part of the festival and is definitely the main attraction this time,” he asserts.
The event is organised by Photographers@Pune (popularly known as P@P) which is considered a unique group of city-based photographers. Started in the year 2006 with just six members, the group has grown to 3,500 members and has over 66,000 photographs in archives. The group uses Flickr as a platform to share their photographs. Though, it is an online community, it often meets and organises various activities for its members like joint photo shoots, photo-walks, seminars, workshops and an annual charitable exhibition, which is Drushtikon.
“An innate passion for photography and a strong connect with the glorious city of Pune has brought together the members of the group who hail from various fields and professions and belong to age groups ranging from students to senior citizens. The main aim of organising this exhibition is to create awareness in the city.” Visitors can also buy the photographs that they like. 50% of the amount received from the sales would be used for sponsoring education for hearing and speech impaired children from Vidya Pratishthan.
