Independent artistes travel across the country to blend different kinds of music in Fox Traveller's new show SoundTrek
Following the footsteps of indie music-based shows such as Coke studio, this year, Blue Frog’s SoundTrek will be aired from August 29 on Fox Traveller. The show comprising 18 episodes has been shot over a span of three months from May to July.

Musical geniuses such as Lucky Ali, Advaita, Parikrama, Midival Punditz, Ranjit Barot, Hari and Sukhmani, Avial, Indus Creed, Dualist Inquiry, to name a few, will travel to Ladakh, Goa, Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai, Auroville, Kolkata, Kalimpong, Udaipur and other places across the country in their quest to seek the best local talent. They will collaborate with local musicians to recreate their original composition by blending two different music genres into one cohesive sound.

Debarpita Banerjee, vice president - Marketing, FOX International Channels, says, “Collaboration is the main theme of the show. The focus is to bring music and travel together.” The show gives talented local artistes a chance to collaborate with reputed stars, make music and gain recognition, Banerjee adds.
Uday Benegal, lead singer and a founding member of Indian rock band Indus Creed, feels that SoundTrek will give recognition to various genres of music. “Though film music is the most popular genre, India has a diverse musical culture that includes folk, pop, classical music and rock, fusion. It is very important that these forms get recognised,” says Benegal.
The show is also a great platform to tap talented musicians from different musical backgrounds who produce quality music but never got due recognition for their efforts, adds Benegal.
Interestingly, Indus Creed collaborated with Sanaya Ardheshir’s electronic band Sandunes, from Mumbai, for their song Take it Harder. This was a nostalgic experience for the artistes as most of them were born and brought up in Mumbai. “We explored the city, while making music. It was like going back to our roots,” says Benegal.
Meanwhile, Sahej Bakshi aka Dualist Inquiry, a popular electronica musician, travelled to Srinagar to collaborate with a local musician Mushtaq Shahnawaz, a seventh generation santoor player.

Sahej says, “The show gave me an opportunity to explore the city of Srinagar, try out the local cuisines and most importantly make music with a talented artiste. During the collaboration, I also realised that though we both come from completely different musical backgrounds, we could easily connect through our music,” he added.
Sahej and Mushtaq collaborated on the song Isoterra from Dualist Inquiry’s new album, Doppelganger.
