'My ex is back in my life...'

Dear Diana

Dear Diana,
Over a year ago, my then boyfriend said he wanted to break off with me. As we belonged to different religions, he felt things would not work out. I did not feel that was the issue. There was something else on his mind. We continued talking for about three months before going our ways. Recently, out of the blue, he messaged me asking how I was. He then messaged me a couple of days later saying he was sorry for hurting me. I told him it was ok and it's all water under the bridge even though I still missed him dearly. After that we have been messaging each other. Once he called me and we spoke for an hour. I'm now missing him again so much and just want to speak to him, but I keep wondering if he will feel I am after him. I just don't know what to do? A common friend tells me that there was someone else on the scene.

Dear Saina,
All of a sudden your guy expressed his reservations about you belonging to another religion. It is strange that when you were going around, it was not an issue. Now he is back in your life and there is no such problem. It is clear that your guy at that time perhaps was interested in someone else as a common friend has informed you. It appears that things did not work out with this girl and now he wants you back in his life. The next time he sends you a SMS, tell him you need to speak to him to clear some stuff. When he calls you, tell him exactly how you feel. He owes you an explanation. Depending on what he replies, then accordingly take stock of the situation. If he is honest with you and you are willing to forgive and forget, start anew. But if he pops in and out of your life at his convenience, then it is better that you take a stand and decide whether it is worth being in this relationship.
