While it used to earlier be used as an open venue for parties, Sanskriti, who is older sibling and architect has designed the place and its interiors right down to the finer details. With a completely glass house, the restaurant has been launched just in time for the monsoons, as one can watch the rain while dining with comforting food.
The sprawling property opens onto the lawn of the hotel letting people take in the greenery around them, as the property also boasts of being sustainable in its operations and artworks that adorn the walls of the corridors.
The entirely vegetarian menu put together by Goa-based chef Gracian de Souza, a former Mumbaikar, who brings with him over 25 years of experience working at some of the most popular restaurants, cafes and properties in Mumbai. Without trying to complicate the dishes, de Souza tells this writer that the focus for the menu which boasts of a variety of specials was simple yet clean flavours. It reflects at the restaurant where we went to experience dinner and breakfast.
For breakfast, we start with their coffee special, Miel Latte, that is a delicious blend of cinnamon and honey giving it a refreshing, earthy and mildly sweet taste. We paired the latte with a delightfully rich yet mildly sweet Apple and Cinnamon French toast that was served with maple syrup.
The Guacamole on sourdough toast with red pepper jam and crumbled goat cheese is definitely a must-try if you like to start the day with familiar ingredients but served innovatively.
The refreshing aspect about the dishes is that the portion sizes are generous yet neither too little or too much, and leaves room for more experiments with flavours. It also led us to try the Ricotta and Chive scrambled paneer with baby green salad on toasted bread, that had the perfect creamy blend of the paneer and cheese on fresh bread.
