Noted Kathak exponent Pandit Chitresh Das and Grammy award-winning ghatam player Vikku Vinayakram will set the stage ablaze with their dynamic performances, today

When Kathak meets ghatam

The versatile Kathak dancer Chitresh Das and Grammy award-winning ghatam player Vikku Vinayakram, are all set to enthrall music and dance lovers, today.

Das will be recreating the drama and force of Draupadi’s vastra haran or disrobing of Draupadi with a virtuosic performance.

On the other hand, percussion will be a three generation-affair as Vikku Vinayakram will play the ghatam, his son
N Ramakrishnan on the mridangam and grandson Swaminathan on the kanjeera, to evoke a throbbing ambiance.

As the maestros create a stupendous sensory delight, artistes Biplab Bhattacharya and Satyaprakash Misra (both on tabla), Jayanta Banerjee on sitar and Debasish Sarcar on vocals, will add a Hindustani melodic element.
