This Friday, actors Vikas Patil and Aarti Wadagbalkar step into an intimate studio space as small-town characters of Sanjivani and Kishor, who pack their dreams of living a modern life and migrate to Mumbai. While they stick to their values at the start, insecurity creeps in and then, there's a murder. This forms the crux of Marathi absurd comedy, Bail Melay!, to be staged at Sitara Studio as part of its regional programming plan.
Directed by Marathi television actor-director Lalit Prabhakar, the 75-minute play has been produced by theatre group, Awishkar. "We've staged it in auditoriums before. This is the first time we're presenting it in an intimate space that demands a change in set design and connects better with the audience," shares playwright Yugandhar Deshpande. This will be followed by a script reading of Durustya Ani Dekhbhal by noted Marathi playwright Champra Deshpande.
