Three questions with Arun Firodia, the author of Innovation On Two Wheels
Arun Firodia
Q. What was your experience of writing the book and why did you name the book Innovation on
Two Wheels?
A. I wrote the book on innovation banking on my own experience — personal and professional. I have written the book to inspire upcoming entrepreneurs and share a vision, which they can take beyond horizons and make business a success. It’s my journey from the 1970s. Innovation isn’t inborn. It needs to be cultivated as an entrepreneur. It’s important that you start off well and should have clear plans for the present and a vision. Add hard work to that and you have a formula for success. However, luck and timing might play an important part in the enterprise as well. Thus, one should always keep looking for opportunities and seize the moments that could have a game-changing impact. The book is also to encourage new talents who should be given a chance to shine in the market. I kept the tile because it’s about innovation on two wheels — it’s about my two-wheeler company.

Q. How do you think innovation can be an integral part of the current market scenario?
A. People should also think and contribute their ideas, and eventually present them in the market. Marketing is one of the key areas as any up-and-coming innovative product or an idea should already have some buzz before it enters the market. This way the success of the product is ensured before-hand. Marketing is one area where I feel companies lag behind. I have also mentioned how the idea of Luna came to my mind. I had initially suggested making a bike for the common man, which would be affordable — keeping the needs of the consumer in mind. The book aims to capture my drive for innovation and my desire for excellence, and sharing my vision.
