Tomorrow, prepare yourself to witness musical magic as Indian tabla maestro Aneesh Pradhan joins hands with Swiss music legends Pierre Favre and Lucas Niggli.

The event, titled Poetry in Percussion, is being hosted by Pro Helvetia — Swiss Arts Council. It follows an initiative that brought together leading percussionists from Switzerland and India to hold an intensive workshop in March last year. It was at this workshop that Favre and Niggli first met Pradhan, who is a disciple of tabla maestro Pandit Nikhil Ghosh, and a leading tabla soloist and accompanist to vocal and instrumental music and dance.

Favre is considered to be one of the world's best percussionists. On being asked what the audience can look forward to at the event, he says, "The audience shouldn't expect anything from a concert — that is the best way to be able to discover something new and inspiring."

"In our case, it will be interesting to watch and hear three percussionists come together musically, and showcase that there is no difference where you hail from, as long as there is a mutual love for percussion music," he adds.

Favre last performed in India in December 2006, at the Jazz Utsav, a musical festival organised in Delhi and Mumbai by Capital Jazz and Rock Street Journal.

Niggli, meanwhile, has played with a host of bands in Europe over the years. He has known Favre since 1994, and the two have since played together as a part of bands, and even as a duo. He shares that he enjoys performing live, adding, "Playing for the audience is my living elixir, and each concert is like a little celebration."
