Humans of Bombay founder Karishma Mehta to re-launch her book over shared stories with guests

American poet and memoirist Maya Angelou said, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." And what better way to make people feel good than by telling them a compelling story and hearing their own? Karishma Mehta, founder of Humans of Bombay, says, "Stories have power. They motivate and inspire people all across the world and imprint a picture in our minds."


In an attempt to introduce people to the world of books and personal stories, Grandma Tales, a month-old initiative by Grandmama's Café, will be stepping into their second edition with the re-launch of Mehta's book, Humans of Bombay.


Expect a fun and interactive evening as Mehta reads some stories from her book, shares her journey, engages in a Q & A session and listens to stories of some of the guests.

After starting as a Facebook page in 2014, Humans of Bombay (which is inspired by the hugely popular Humans of New York Facebook page) today, has more than seven lakh followers and features nearly 1,000 stories. Mehta has now collated the stories in a book, which not only features those from her Facebook page but also 80 inspirational stories that haven't been disclosed yet.

Mehta says, "Humans of Bombay is a 360-page book with 250 different voices. All you've got to do is open any page and read a chapter from the life of a person you haven't ever met with. It's enough to strike a chord in your heart; to make you smile."

Preet Sanghvi of Grandmama's Cafe is keen to reintroduce people to the culture of book reading through interactive sessions. She says, "After the launch of Encounters of a Fat Bride by Samah Visaria in the first edition, we hope to come closer to our dream of engaging people with stories through the re-launch of this fascinating book."
