Two blokes, Bob Mortimer and Andy Dawson, engage in a banter centering around football and as a result, they make the sport interesting to people who have never watched a game before. “Sports relief or comic relief,” asks one, during the initial part of the episode, throwing light on the humorous intent. They take a dig at England football star Raheem Sterling’s home cinema. “It has a Michael Jackson room. What has football got to do with that? Has Sterling been there himself?” they ask. The duo even judged the length of Leighton Baines’ (Everton) shorts.
Mortimer and Dawson — in the 47-minute episode — also pick on the houses of Leicester City footballers like Ritchie De Laet (currently playing for Aston Villa) and the mannerisms of radio presenters who talk about the sport.
The podcast is mainly about people connected to football, and their lifestyles. Since it is less about technicalities, it is likely to draw attention. “If you are in control of the ball in the penalty box, you can have a goal or penalty,” is probably the only serious sentence one of them utters, towards the end of the session.
