If music is your passion or if you wish to learn the ropes of music direction for films, enroll at a music school to be launched by Whistling Woods International (WWI), at its Goregaon campus. Starting this July, the two-year course will include subjects like sound recording technology, Indian Classical and Folk music, Western harmony, arranging/ composition, ear training, ensemble and recording, vocal instrumental, and keyboard training.

“Music is essential to the cinematic experience. Now that we have established various parameters of filmmaking at WWI, music was the next step. On the campus, we have the environment for young musicians to work alongside our filmmaking students and get hands-on training — aesthetically and technically,” says D Wood, Head of Department-Music at the institute.

The faculty for this course includes Dr Sangeeta Shankar — PhD in music from The Banaras Hindu University —Vijay Kurien, a trained keyboard player and D Wood. “Guest faculty will comprise of various industry experts and musicians from across the world. Our aim is to create musicians who use technology, as opposed to technicians who make music,” adds Wood.
