From June 9 to 15, cities across the world including Mumbai, London and New York, will see live music performances, on the streets and at public venues, where choirs, orchestras, bands and soloists will be making music. Busk refers to playing music in public places to raise money.

On June 11, performers across the globe will attempt to set the first ever simultaneous Guinness World Record
for the largest busk at multiple venues.
The performances are part of Musequality’s World Busk Week where musicians across the world perform to aid disadvantaged children. Musequality funds communal music projects for disadvantaged children in developing countries.
Participants this year from India include the National Street for Performing Arts in Mumbai and Child’s Play Foundation.
International violinist David Juritz set up Musequality. In 2007, he left London with a backpack and an empty wallet to busk around the world playing solo Bach, raising money and awareness to set up the charity. Musequality’s music education programmes are held in Africa, India and Thailand and have helped orphaned children.
This year, over 850 musicians have signed up for the event. Groups of 25 or more are eligible to take part in this.
