Don't miss our special comic strip ode to Mumbai

Almost everyone visits Marine Drive on New Year but the history of the Backbay is mostly lost in time.

The comic strip by illustrator Garima Gupta introduces five Mumbai-centric icons: Flora Fountain, Gargoyle, Albert Sassoon, Regal Cinema figurine and Hutatma statue, and their personal relationship with the sea from the times they first came to Bombay.

The strip begins in the late 1860s and ends on Jan 1, 2015.

It also briefly suggests of how the Backbay scheme was a disaster and the then governor Sir George Lloyd reduced the beautiful water front into concrete mess. It ends with the five of them at Marine Drive on Jan 1, 2015.
