8 trends that caused a ripple at last week's Mumbai fashion week

Sexy choli 2.0
Winter's coming, but the cholis are getting smaller. Arpita Mehta had '90s inspired tie-up necklines, Anushree Reddy (in pic) worked with embroidered tube choli with sheer panels, while Monika-Nidhii stuck to off-shoulder and bustier-style cholis with deep necklines.

Art on my sleeve
Take a cue from designer Neha Agarwal's interpret-ation of Madhubani art through applique and embroidery on separates.

Bandhani cool
On jumpsuits (Pot Plant X Shohel Khatri) and crop tops and pants by Sunita Shankar, bandhani is no longer restricted to Gujarati weddings.

Peek-a-boo layer
Perfect for Mumbai, light layering in solid colours as seen at shows by Sanjay Garg (in pic) and Rara Avis won't leave you in a sweaty mess.

Desi stripes
Stripes have entered the desi cool category and how! While Matr had a saree with a striped ruffled edge, Anavila Misra mixed different weaving techniques to create varied stripes.

Bold floral
Florals are refusing to go out of style. This edition saw them in the form of bold, coloured embroidery in collections by Manish Malhotra (right), Ritu Kumar, Rahul Mishra and several others.

Belted jackets
A big trend to emerge this season is the belted jacket. Misra paired a wine jacket with a striped saree and Nikita Mhaisalkar (below) showcased contemporary baadla tar embroidery on a sheer jacket.

Long jackets
The long jackets from Sahil Aneja's (left) and Divyam Mehta's line can be borrowed by women to go androgenous.
