Indian classical music aficionados can enjoy a unique flute symphony at a concert, Bansuri Utsav, on January 26. To mark India's 68th Republic Day, 68 flautists from across the country have come together for a performance. Popular flautist Vivek Sonar, who is flute legend Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia's senior-most disciple, will accompany them. Pandit Chaurasia and tabla player Vijay Ghate will also join in for the charitable event, which aims to raise funds for the Shahid Jawan Fund.

The veteran is excited to perform at the ninth edition, "I have been part of the event for the last seven years. It's overwhelming to see so many kids and elderly people perform together. I wish more people take up the flute. Playing at the show is like playing at Gurukul (his music school), because so many disciples surround me."

Pandit Chaurasia adds that the organisers will also launch an app to learn the flute during the show. "I feel the best way to motivate people to take up the instrument is by making them fall in love with the flute." He also wants people to come in large numbers to contribute towards the Shahid Jawan Fund.

ON: January 26, 6.30 pm onwards
AT: Central Park Amphitheatre, Kharghar, Navi Mumbai.
