Stand-up comic Amit to turn actor with web series about Delhi’s real-estate scams

In some ways, facing the camera comes easy to Amit Tandon whose last show, Goodnight India, became immensely popular. But acting is a different ball game altogether. The stand-up comedian is ready to give it a shot as he makes his acting debut with a dramedy. Tandon, who is also writing the web series, has focused on a subject that he knows well as a resident of Delhi — he will offer a satirical take on the capital’s real-estate scams, in his signature brand of humour.

A source reveals, “Amit was first roped in to write the dramedy. Since he has a command over comedy and storytelling, and given the ease with which he faced the camera for Goodnight India, the team thought it would be good to have him lead the show as well. The project is in early stages of development. Amit plays himself in the show, which is partly autobiographical.” The makers, who are keeping details of the project under wraps, plan to take it on floors next year. Sources say it will be helmed by a debutant director.
