In his upcoming film Marjaavaan, Sidharth Malhotra plays a larger-than-life hero who breaks bones and utters dialogues that reminds of the Angry Young Man image of Bollywood's retro era. The actor recently said Marjaavaan is a humble attempt to reclaim that era.
Since she does not have any dialogue in Marjaavaan, Tara Sutaria said she had to fall back on expressions and sign language to bring alive her character in the film.
Tara Sutaria said that she went through extensive sign language training for her role, and wishes to see the reaction from the differently-abled community after they watch Marjaavaan.
Rakul Preet Singh plays a dancer in Marjaavaan. She said, "I will be seen in an extended special appearance but it's a very strong role. Milap (Zaveri) had said that my role is similar to Rekha ji's role in Muqaddar Ka Sikandar and Tabu ji's role in Jeet (1996)."
Rakul Preet Singh added, "As an actor, you don't always get a chance to play a role that is not in trend over the past few years. Marjaavaan has this 1990s and melodramatic feel. There is a touch of shayari (a form of poem) and nazaakat (finesse) to my character and that's the reason I did the role. I am happy the way it is."
