Bigg Boss 2 fame Payal Rohatgi seeks financial aid for father's cancer treatment

Actress Payal Rohatgi recently made an emotional appeal to her fans, revealing that her father is battling prostate cancer. In a heartfelt post, Payal shared details about his condition and the financial strain the family is facing, urging her followers to come forward with their support and donations. On Wednesday, Payal took to her Instagram handle and wrote a lengthy note that read, “I have decided to post this on my social media after a lot of internal alignment of my thoughts. In our country, medical treatments are expensive. And every middle-class family has limited funds. Also, my father thought he would get reimbursement from the medical insurance company of whose premium he had paid but he hasn’t. The medical insurance PREMIUM every year so much for senior citizens but when genuine medical expenses don’t get reimbursed it’s sad. He requested me to put it on my social media and I am doing it as I want to connect via this platform.”           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Team Payal Rohatgi (@payalrohatgi) She added, “Crowdfunding (Donation) needed for my Father. He is a senior citizen and is suffering from Prostate Cancer (since 2018), COPD i.e., shrinking lungs (since 2006), and Very Severe Osteoporosis (since 2008). Request my fans and followers to Donate generously and deposit money in the following account. Some Medical Reports attached. The entire medical file can be sent on email too.” Payal Rohatgi was a contestant in the reality show Bigg Boss in 2008. In 2022, she participated in ALT Balaji's reality television show Lock Upp and emerged as the runner-up. The show was hosted by actress Kangana Ranaut and Payal during her stint on it, made several startling revelations about her personal life. Gaurav Khanna quits Anupamaa

Gaurav Khanna quits Anupamaa, reacts to rumours of rift with Rupali Ganguly

Television actor Gaurav Khanna, who plays the role of Anuj Kapadia in the popular family drama Anupamaa has officially quit the show. After discussions with producer Rajan Shahi, there was a possibility of a grand re-entry, but after waiting for two months, it did not work out. “The storyline had to progress, and waiting no longer made sense. He, too, felt it was time for me to explore something bigger. So, for now, Anuj’s chapter is closed, but I see it as a comma, not a full stop. If the story demands and my schedule allows, I’d be happy to return,” said Gaurav.  Gaurav Khanna is known for his work in Ardhangini, Meri Doli Tere Angana, and CID. Gaurav Khanna on rift rumours with Rupali Ganguly  Before Gaurav, Paras Kalnawat, Nidhi Shah, and Sudhanshu Pandey quit the show. What matters is the work we’ve created together. I’ve always focused on my craft, and what happens beyond the ‘action’ and ‘cut’ is secondary." Paras had earlier said in an interview on Chuddy Buddy season 2, "Some of my scenes were cut. I wanted my storyline to progress because it suddenly ended. And everyone knows who was behind that. The channel didn’t want to get involved in the process of the show, which was already performing well. It was like, if she had a problem doing scenes with a particular person, they would just remove that person. The channel wouldn’t question her. I don’t want to name that person, but everyone knew who it was." Anupamaa is based on the Bengali series Sreemoyee.

He accused her of lying and pretending to be speaking the truth in the vlog. "Kuch log vlogs mein jhooth bol ke, sache ban jate hai. Or kuch log chup rahe kar galat sabit ho jate hai. Is zamane mein rishte se jada vlogs important hai. [Some people lie in vlogs and appear honest, while others stay silent and are considered wrong. Telly Tattle: Sa Re Ga Ma Pa's Love You Maa special episode turns emotional

During the Love You Maa special episode of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, the mood turned deeply emotional as host Vipul Roy asked the mentors to share heartfelt anecdotes about their mothers. When asked about her mother, Parampara Tandon shared, “I never thought talking about this would make me so emotional, to the point where my voice trembles. Whatever music is within me, it’s all because of her. Her name, fittingly, is Sangeeta [Thakur], and she has been my guru since childhood. She is a classically trained singer and has imparted invaluable lessons to me.”

Jayati Bhatia

Jayati Bhatia: In 2024, I feel OTT viewers have dwindled

Jayati Bhatia has a simple thumb rule: when approaching a character, find something novel about it. Her latest show, Jaane Anjaane Hum Mile, offered her just that. The actor portrays Sharda Suryavanshi, a woman whose love for her family is conditional. After building a career playing the quintessential saas and a vamp in television shows since 1995, Bhatia says it was a departure to play a character that isn’t “straight-forward”. In a chat with mid-day, the actor talks about tackling roles, feeling as nervous as any newcomer on the set and why she believes the OTT boom is a myth. Edited excerpts from the interview. Over the years, what has been the one role that has satisfied the actor in you? It’s a clichéd answer, but it is true. A role that I’ve already done becomes a tale of the past. The new characters that come my way excite me. For instance, now as I play Sharda Suryavanshi in Jaane Anjaane Hum Mile, I am nervous. I’ve played the matriarch of a family who controls everyone [before]. Here, I am not like that. Sharda shows that she has a big heart, but in reality is hiding her true self. My characters have all been straight-forward before; Sharda loves her family, but her love is conditional and selfish. She loves Raghav [the protagonist] and has invested emotionally in him so that she can revel in the returns after 15 years. You are a veteran on set. How do you manage with relatively newer actors who are learning the craft? At the beginning of any show, I am as nervous as any newbie. It’s just that people don’t see my nervousness. They believe that with my experience, I will deliver the best in one take. I may be more experienced as per my craft, but I am as new to the show as anyone else on set. I will know the tricks to do a scene and they may not—that probably is the only difference. Here, Bharat [Ahlawat] and Ayushi [Khurana] came prepared on set. Sehaj [Rajput], who plays Unnati, and Dhruv [Rohit Kumar] are wet behind the ears. But while shooting a wedding sequence, the way Sehaj performed her scene made me so proud of her. I have a lot of respect for actors, unless they are terrible. Then I get exasperated. Were you nervous when you were a newbie?Back then, our seniors were in the same position as I am now. They never told us to shut up, or learn our lines and come back. I’ve worked with Kirron [Kher], and some prolific actors in my career. Sudha Chandran-ji taught me how to face the light and camera. She said, ‘You are not doing theatre; you’re working for the camera. So, you have to learn where the light is.’ Since they taught me, it is now my responsibility to be patient with the newbies. The concept of aata saata has been explored in Bade Acche Lagte Hai and Kutumb. What is novel about this show? The word ‘aata saata’ is new. When I heard the narration, I was puzzled with the term. In fact, I wanted the show to be called Aata Saata [laughs]. I was staying in Karol Bagh in Delhi, where I saw the Rajasthani community practice this exchange. Back then, as a kid, I was just thrilled about two weddings happening together. Now, I realise what it meant. As society is changing, people are choosing not to marry. So, how is the story of a couple, who is entering a marriage that is all about compromise, relevant?[Choosing to not marry] is an urban concept. In tier II and III cities, it is still not popular. Ultimately, we are telling a story, and we’ve been telling stories since ages. We cannot know how it will end. If we know how it begins and ends, it’s not fun. Twists and turns keep the audience hooked. Gabriel García Márquez’s book Love in the Time of Cholera [showed] that love can bloom in the most horrible places. This is not even as complicated. There has been a shift in audience’s taste since the OTT boom. Do you feel the TV audience is dwindling? No. In 2024, I feel OTT viewers have dwindled. Not every show coming out is fantastic. People watch two out of eight episodes and leave the show. I feel it’s not a boom. Television is still going strong. Five years ago, it was predicted that the television industry would shut down, but it didn’t happen. People have changed their viewing patterns. Now that we are on the phone and on apps, it’s not fixed that at 7pm everyone will be watching the same show. The idea of family viewing and primetime is gone. No one will stop watching TV shows.

The film will be a Christmas release and will hit the theaters on 20th December 2024. Earlier Anil Sharma discussed casting Nana Patekar in the film and how he became his choice. He told ANI, "There are only a few actors of this age. Amitabh Bachchan has already worked in 'Baghban' and 'Piku' and many other such films. So, I felt that Nana Patekar would be a little fresh and we would get a different dimension in our character...I was very happy working with him." He added, "When I went to Pune to meet him for the first time, I gave him the narration of the script and told him the story for 10-15 minutes. At that time, he agreed. The character was like that. And I enjoyed working with him." Nana Patekar made headlines during the rise of the MeToo Movement in India. In September 2018, former actress Tanushree Dutta alleged that Patekar misbehaved with her on the sets of 'Horn Ok Please' in 2008 while shooting for a special dance number for the movie, and went on to file an FIR against the 'Welcome' star. However, Patekar refuted all allegations.

A still from Anupamaa; (right) Esha Verma

Telly Tattle: Rupali Ganguly shares cryptic post on having to prove nothing

Amid her ongoing legal dispute with stepdaughter Esha Verma, Anupamaa actor Rupali Ganguly reshared a note on her Instagram Stories, which read, “Learn to be okay with people who don’t know your side of the story. You have to prove nothing to anyone.” Earlier this month, Esha was slammed with a Rs 50 crore defamation notice by Rupali. In her response, Esha wrote, “Earlier this month, I made the difficult decision to share my personal story involving my father and my experiences growing up. This decision sparked widespread attention across social media. Speaking up was the hardest thing I’ve done. For 24 years, I felt trapped in a reality I couldn’t escape. Sharing my experiences was my way of finding justice. I want to address an important point: a child should never be punished for speaking their truth. Despite being a young adult, I am still my father’s [Ashwin Verma] child. Their response to my statement was disturbing, cruel, and displayed their true character. I was not just a random individual speaking out but someone who was directly affected as a member of their family.”
