In October, a baby shower was held for Disha Vakani which was attended by her close family and friends including her on-screen son, Bhavya Gandhi aka Tapu. Bhavya had shared a photo from the ceremony and captioned it, "Glad to be a part of my "reel" mother's "real" baby shower ceremony." Disha Vakani was seen beaming with pride and joy at the baby shower. 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah' cast members -- Dilip Joshi (Jethalal), Ambika Ranjankar (Komal Hathi), Kavi Kumar Azad (Dr. Hansraj Hathi) and Munmun Dutta (Babita) -- also attended the baby shower.

Following the news of her pregnancy, fans of Disha Vakani were disheartened to learn of the actor's departure from the family-drama. Quick to sense audience sentiment, the makers, who were initially contemplating on roping in a replacement, instead decided to offer Vakani an extended leave.
A source told mid-day in August that the actor, who requested to call time on her stint on the show since she's expecting her first child, will return after her pregnancy leave. "The makers don't want to replace Disha. She is an integral part of the show. They will concentrate on the other characters in her absence." It was speculated that Vakani would be replaced by Giaa Manek, but an official statement hadn't been made.
'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah' recently completed nine years. The actress started her career from theatre and went on to working in films like 'Devdas' and 'Jodha Akbar'. She shot to fame with her portrayal of Dayaben in 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah'.
