As India celebrates its 73rd Republic Day today, Sunayana Fozdar joins mid-day.com for a special conversation.

What are your thoughts and memories of Republic Day?
The flag unfurling ceremony that took place in school, where we all used to be dressed in patriotic colour coded outfits and had cultural events where I used to love dancing on patriotic songs giving tribute to our National Heroes. Back then I didn’t know the true meaning of the sacrifice of all who lost their lives and those whose lives are still are stake to keep us alive. Our every day practices, way of life should promote our patriotic feeling not just these days!

Importance of the constitution…
A number of important factors to state a few. The constitution makes the Government, the leaders accountable to its citizens, states the ideals that the country should function on which are so important for unity, stability and prosperity of the nation.

A patriotic song or dialogue that makes you sentimental?
Aye mere Watan ke Logon sung by Lata ji gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it.
