Karan Kundrra who was recently seen on Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai entered Salman Khan’s Bigg Boss 15 as a contestant yesterday. From being a gang leader on Roadies, to a contestant on Bigg Boss, Karan talks to mid-day.com about what the audience can expect!
Your breakup with Anusha Dandekar was in the news yet again this week after her 'Ask me anything' went viral…
Everything in my life is out there in the open but it’s weird that whenever I sign a new show this topic comes up again. I don’t want to talk about this anymore because kitna bolu?
What was your reaction when you were offered Bigg Boss?
It wasn’t a question of whether to do Bigg Boss or not, the question was when! Whenever I wanted to do the show there would be date or time issues. Bigg Boss is a massive commitment, you can’t do anything else for 3-4 months. The way our careers are going I always had some other commitments or family issues. This time everything just fell into place. We had three meetings and there were some apprehensions of my side and their side as well but things still worked out.
From being a gang leader on Roadies to being a contestant on Bigg Boss, how different does that feel?
I’ve crossed the line from be
ing on this side of the show to the other side. It’s not that I’ve never been a participant, I’ve competed on dance reality shows. So it’s a good thing and a bad thing at the same time. I may get overcritical about what Salman says thinking why he said this. I might think if I was a host what I would have said, so it could be both good and bad, but let’s see.
How did you prepare yourself for all things you don’t get to have in the house?
After signing the show, these things struck me. How will I pass my time, how are the challenges going to turn out, how will I take care of this and that and not be able to speak to my family? Now that I’m in, I might as well walk the talk.
How did your family and friends react to your decision to take up the show?
I’m the youngest in my family so they are very scared. My friends on the other hand are happy I’m doing the show.
Have you been following previous seasons?
Not religiously, because I would always be travelling, toh reh jaata tha. Overall I do know the basics about the show.
Any contestants from the previous seasons that you admire?
Prince (Narula) who has won the show is a close friend of mine, so is Vikas (Gupta). At the same time the one person who I really liked was Sidharth (Shukla) he was an absolute rock star in the game. He was very fierce, fearless at the same time he did not care about maintaining an image. So I think not just me but everyone remembers him.
We recently saw you in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, that daily soap and this reality show are two extremes. Was this change something you were looking for?
I can’t say I was looking for it, but Bigg Boss is exciting, it’s a new avenue that opened up. The show has a good reach and it’s a game changing opportunity. As exciting as it is, it is also scary. I’m quite nervous.
Your music videos with Mannat Noor and Shraddha Arya are slated to release soon…
They are a good way to leave your footprints in the industry. When you aren’t doing anything else these videos also give you a chance to travel.
