Sona Mohapatra has slammed Hema Sardesai for supporting Anu Malik who has been called out by several singers in the wake of the #MeToo movement. Referring to Sardesai as a "sick, silly woman," Mohapatra's post on social media read, "Somebody tell Ms Sardesai that yes, it takes two bodies to get raped, but that does not mean the person getting raped is to be blamed? This is victim shaming (sic)."

Hema Sardesai had posted, "If one of the decent singers like me could have sung some of Anu Malik's greatest songs, it proves there is a great artiste in him who respected talent and gave me songs on merit (sic)." She added, "I ask the singers… why were you quiet for years? Are you'll saying the other music directors who you'll worked with were gods (sic)?"
Last year, Sona along with singers Shweta Pandit and Neha Bhasin had levelled allegations of sexual harassment against the composer. Soon, a couple of other women had come forward to accuse Malik of improper conduct, following which Sony TV had announced the composer was stepping down as judge from 2018's season 10.
Anu Malik has been reinstated as a judge on Indian Idol for the ongoing season, the channel is apparently doing a rethink now. There's talk that he might be asked to quit the reality show.
