Satyajit Bhatkal, CEO Satyamev Jayate stated that Paani Foundation received no financial assistance from the Government of Maharashtra. He clarifies, "There is no proposal whatsoever on the part of the Government of Maharashtra to provide any financial assistance to Paani Foundation, nor has Paani Foundation applied for the same. Paani Foundation has not taken, nor does it plan to seek, any funding whatsoever from the government."

Further elaborating, "The GR (Government Resolution) enables Gram Panchayats to apply to the Government for funds for doing watershed management work as per the rules of the government. In cases where these funds will be sanctioned, the funds will go directly from the government to the concerned Gram Panchayat and Paani Foundation is in no way concerned with the same."

Paani Foundation is a not-for-profit company set up in 2016 by the team of the TV series Satyamev Jayate to fight drought in rural Maharashtra. Aamir Khan's initiative of Paani foundation's Satyameva Jayate Water Cup has grown to achieve what they were set out to in the last three years. Water Cup that started with 3 Talukas in 2016 has almost 1/4th of Maharashtra participating this year. In 2018, over 9000 villages from 75 talukas will be competing for the Water Cup.

Because of his phenomenal work in this area, in Maharashtra, the smallest of places not only know about Aamir Khan but also take him to be a huge inspiration. The actor who has been busy shooting for his upcoming film will take some time off along with wife Kiran Rao for Paani foundation and will be dedicating 2 months entirely to look into the work personally.
