It was while she was shooting for the finale episode of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa on Thursday evening that Madhuri Dixit received an urgent call summoning her home to be by her ailing father's side. In the wee hours yesterday, 91-year-old Shankar R Dixit left for heavenly abode

While the actress was inconsolable in her grief, the fate of the shoot hangs in the air.

Says a source close to the actress, “The actress’ father had not been keeping well for a while. Madhuri had to leave mid-way during the shoot and the rest of the schedule had to be called off.”

The much talked about aerial act that was to be preformed by Mads for the finale episode could not be completed.

The source adds, “Mads had been preparing for her difficult act over the past few days.”

Insiders from the channel say that the actress may no longer be available for the shoot to be completed. She may not even be present during the announcement of the results. “It is completely fine with us. Our creative team is currently in a meeting to discuss the matter and will take the final decision soon,” adds a unit-hand.

The last rites of Madhuri’s father were performed at the Oshiwara crematorium yesterday. The actress issued a press note stating, “We’ll miss him but we know he lived a full life. We thank all those who have offered their condolences and prayers.”u00a0
