The passing away of Kannada star Puneeth Rajkumar on October 29 shocked the nation alike. He was only 46. His last rites were performed today at Sree Kanteerava Studios in Bengaluru with full state honours. The last rites were attended by stars like Chiranjeevi and Yash.
Security forces and thousands of fans and well-wishers were also present at the last rites. The same happened when the news of his unfortunate demise broke and people gathered outside Vikram Hospital in Bengaluru in large numbers, shocked and numbed by the tragedy.
He was wrapped in the tricolor and security forces fired in the air as a mark of respect for the legacy he left behind with his incredible body of work and his contribution of Indian Cinema.
Puneeth Rajkumar's mortal remains will be put to rest beside the grave of his father, the legendary actor of Kannada cinema Dr Rajkumar in Bengaluru. The order was issued in this regard by senior IAS officer N. Manjunath Prasad, Principle Secretary to the Chief Minister on Friday.
Puneeth Rajkumar's mother Parvathamma is also laid to rest in the same premises. The decision was taken as per the wishes of his family. Civic agency of Bengaluru and the Police department have been asked to make necessary arrangements. The mortal remains of Puneeth Rajkumar were kept for public view at Kanteerava Stadium till Saturday evening.
