After granting permission for 100 per cent occupancy in theatres and multiplexes, the Tamil Nadu government retracted the permit once the Madras High Court stayed the order on Friday. The decision was taken keeping the safety of people in mind.

Questioning the initial order, the Union Home Secretary had sent a letter to the state chief secretary requesting to adhere guidelines. The Madras high court stayed the decision asking the government to not permit more than 50 per cent occupancy till January 11.
