Shiv Sena has moved a breach of privilege notice in Maharashtra assembly against writer Shobhaa De over her comments on the issue of screening Marathi films in multiplexes during prime time.

Shobhaa De is suppose to reply to the notice.

Reacting to the development, Shobhaa De tweeted, "Now a privilege motion demanding an apology from me? Come on! I am a proud Maharashtrian and love Marathi films. Always have. Always will!"

On Tuesday night, Shobhaa De tweeted, "Devendra 'Diktatwala' Fadnavis is at it again!!! From beef to movies. This is not the Maharashtra we all love! Nako! Nako! Yeh sab roko!"

The writer, who is also a Maharashtrian, further tweeted, "I love Marathi movies. Let me decide when and where to watch them, Devendra Fadnavis. This is nothing but Dadagiri. No more pop corn at multiplexes in Mumbai? Dahi misal and vada pav only. To go better with the Marathi movies at prime time ."

Culture Minister Vinod Tawde made the disclosure of the directive in the State Assembly on Tuesday. Replying to a debate on preservation of historical forts, Marathi language and culture, Tawde said, "We are in the process of enacting a law to make it mandatory for multiplexes to screen Marathi films during prime time."

While the Marathi film industry has welcomed the move, the diktat has come in for heavy criticism from Bollywood filmmakers and distributors.
