They say that content is the king, and it is true for the films and shows releasing over the digital domain. The trend of OTT space has given a hard run to cinema halls and multiplexes. And with the Covid-19 pandemic, multiplexes have taken a backseat. With the ever-growing demand for English and Hindi content in India, even regional content is making its way into the digital space.

Planet Marathi OTT, a leading name in the digital space is all set to bring some of the best films and shows of the Marathi language. Incorporated by Akshay Bardapurkar, the streaming platform is focusing to bring the finest art of cinema and entertainment over the digital space. The one of a kind platform is in the news, and recently it was revealed that senior journalist and former anchor of Zee 24 Taas, Jayanti Waghdhare was appointed as the AVP - Social Media. Excited about her new journey, the journalist is all set to ace creativity with her diversified experience.

With a career in journalism of more than a decade, Jayanti has been a popular name among many celebrities. She has interviewed a majority of Marathi celebrities, and even some of the A-listers of B-Town including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Deepika Padukone and many more. An ardent fan of realistic cinema, Jayanti Waghdhare promises to serve the audience with informational yet entertaining content.

As per the BCG report earlier in December 2020, it was revealed that OTT subscriptions rose by 60 per cent. The unfortunate pandemic saw the rise of online streaming platforms, and it is estimated to prosper in the coming years as well. Speaking about it, Jayanti said, “We all are in a messy situation right now. Digitalization is taking over the world, and it has helped OTT platforms rise at an unprecedented rate. People want to be entertained and to keep them glued, the makers of many films are opting for OTT releases to make good profits.”

We have seen many Bollywood films either release directly on the OTT platforms or following the route of hybrid release. In such a time, Planet Marathi OTT has all the right reasons to become one of a kind regional streaming platform. While concluding Jayanti said, “Looking at the rising demand of content consumption, we are working towards bringing some meaningful and high-quality cinema for our viewers.” Well, it would be interesting to see what novelty the new online streaming platform brings in terms of entertainment.
