Theatre actor Siddharth Randeria is reprising Patekar's role. The film is directed by Jayant Gilatar, whose last directorial venture was the Juhi Chawla and Shabana Azmi-starrer Chalk N Duster (2016).
Natsamrat is based on V.V. Shirwadkar aka Kusumagraj's legendary Marathi play of the same name. Natsamrat is about a veteran theatre actor who has been the best of his lot, acting in plays based on William Shakespeare's works. But gradually, Natsamrat becomes homeless and weary. Besides Nana, the film features Medha Manjrekar, Vikram Gokhale, Mrunmayee Deshpande, Ajit Parab, Neha Pendse and Sunil Barve.
