Veteran actor Kamal Haasan has found himself in the midst of a controversy yet again. A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has reportedly been filed against the actor in Chennai for allegedly hurting Hindu sentiments by his remarks on the epic Mahabharat.
According to a report in India Today, a PIL has been filed against Kamal Haasan in the Tirunelveli district court by Hindu Makkal Katchi (HMK) for hurting the sentiments of Hindus.
The report states a police complaint was lodged against Kamal Haasan by HMK on March 15 at the Chennai City Police Commissionerate for his alleged derogatory remarks about Mahabharat.
Kamal Haasan allegedly said, "In Mahabharat, Panchali was used as a pawn while the men gambled. She was used as a collateral and India is a country that respects and honours a book that revolves around men using a woman to gamble away as if she was a mere object."
According to the report, the HMK called Kamal Haasan an 'anti-Hindu' and even questioned if he had any guts to speak against Bible or Quran in the same way.
Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan has been dealing with a personal loss. His elder brother Chandrahasan passed away on Saturday. Chandrahasan suffered a cardiac arrest and died in London.
