Filmmaker Samruddhi Porey said 'Hemalkasa' is her first Hindi movie.
"My Marathi movie 'Prakash Baba Amte' starring Nana Patekar and Sonali Kulkarni was critically and commercially acclaimed and I decided to take the film to cater to larger audience. I reshot the movie in Hindi," she told PTI.
Hemalkasa is competing for a Oscar nomination in the open category of best actor, best actress and best film.
She said the final list of nominations will be known in February.
Porey said in the last three four months, several shows have been held for the jury in Los Angeles.
Not just 'Hemalkasa', other Indian movies including Konkani film 'Nachom-ia Kumpasar', Malayalam movie 'Jalam', Kannada film 'Rangitaranga' have also made it to the Oscar nomination list, she said.
Marathi film 'Court' is India's official entry in the foreign language film category at the Oscars.
